Miami Art Week

Art Basel Miami headlined a plethora of art fairs, satellite events and general art mayhem in Miami, Florida in early December 2012.

Emma was lucky enough to be in town for ten days and captured some of her favourite moments from the fairs and her general wanderings in a Facebook archive entitled Postcard from Mi-am-i.

Brave New World / Toyota Sculpture Prize 2012

Mad in China (Dirty Dishes) will be exhibited as part of the 2012 Toyota Sculpture Prize at Toyota Australia's HQ in Port Melbourne.The eighth annual exhibition aims to showcase the diversity and excellence of sculptural practice in Victoria and will be opened by Professor Callum Morton (Head of Fine Art, Monash Art, Design and Architecture) on Tuesday 27 November at 6pm.

Reverie at The Dax Centre

The Dax Centre in Melbourne is preparing for the launch of Reverie, a new group show to be staged at their Parkville headquarters in the first half of 2013. A maquette of Emma's work imag_ne, acquired by donation to The Cunningham Dax Collection in late 2009, will be included as part of the exhibition.

City of Melbourne Arts Grants

Emma has been awarded a City of Melbourne Arts Grant for her project Mad in China. Funds will support a multi-sited exhibition of collage works to be installed at eight different venues in Melbourne's Chinatown district in September / October 2013.

Splash + The World Architecture Awards

The Noble Park Aquatic Centre continues to gain industry accolades. Emma Anna was employed as the creative consultant on this major infrastructure project in suburban Melbourne, a collaboration between Suters Architects and The City of Greater Dandenong.

NPAC picked up two awards at the recent Australian National Splash Awards, a biannual environmental awards program for the pool and spa industry. NPAC was awarded the Commercial Pool Award and was also announced Project of the Year.

La Usurpadora / Las chicas solo quieren divertirse

Emma Anna will be installing her new collage narrative Miss Adventure as part of Colombia-based art collective La Usurpador's latest pop-up event, Las chicas solo quieren divertirse. This all-female group show will take place at a private (partially built) residence in the El Silencio region of Barranquilla for one night only on Thursday, September 27, 2012.

One Way... Or Another

Emma's two-part work 'One Way... Or Another' is featured as part of the City of Whittlesea's Sites to be Seen : Private Art in Public Spaces exhibition. 

The public exhibition is a trail of 70 artworks - from 37 artists - temporarily installed on pavements, walls, planters and in unexpected places in High Street between Spring and Pleasant Street, Thomastown, Melbourne. The exhibition runs from 19 May to 31 August 2012.

Anagram @ Sculpture by the Sea Bondi

Anagram will be exhibiting their sculpture Colony as part of Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi in late 2012. Emma is Creative Director of the Australian-based collective.

Sculpture by the Sea Bondi runs from October 18 - November 4, 2012 on the Bondi-Tamarama Coast Walk in Sydney.

Museo del Caribe

Working with students from the fine arts faculty of the Universidad del Atlantico, Emma completed work on Viva la Vida, a 32-metre temporary mural at the Museo del Caribe in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Dulux Colour Awards

In 2010 Emma Anna was commissioned by project architects Suters and the City of Greater Dandenong to develop a thematic approach to colour application which could be used throughout the Noble Park Aquatic Centre. 

Opened in February 2012, NPAC has just been announced as a finalist in the prestigious 2012 Dulux Colour Awards.The project has been nominated in the commercial exterior division, recognising the unique design of the Centre's colourful facade mural.

McClelland Sculpture Survey 2012

Emma Anna is one of 36 artists who have been invited to exhibit new works as part of the 2012 McClelland Sculpture Survey, to be staged at the McClelland Gallery & Sculpture Park in Langwarrin, Victoria from November 2012.

Since its inception in 2003, the McClelland Sculpture Survey has emerged as the most important outdoor sculpture exhibition in Australia, displaying a wide range of works in different media and styles by both established and emerging artists.
